Our core values were incubated during our decades of experience leading real estate and facilities initiatives at Columbia University, Northwell Health and for other organizations both public and private. In these roles, we faced rising land and construction costs, shifting and shrinking revenue sources, development wary communities, complicated regulatory environments, and a competitive marketplace. These challenges manifested in two recurrent themes. First, our tenancy, which created economic value for our landlords was not being reflected in our occupancy cost. Second, the typical development process was opaque often resulting in different outcome than anticipated in terms of cost and quality. We committed to meeting the challenges organizations like ours faced, and the BLUE SKY model emerged to offer mission-driven organizations the value they deserve.
